Collection: *Rhodolite
Rhodolite is a recognized variety within the Garnet group, positioned compositionally between pyrope and almandine. It is defined by its purplish-red to raspberry-red color, due to iron and magnesium in its crystal structure. Unlike many colored gemstones, rhodolite is not typically subject to treatment to enhance color.
This collection includes natural rhodolite in faceted formats, selected for clarity, balanced proportions, and accurate representation of color. Origins commonly include East Africa and Sri Lanka, regions known for producing transparent material suitable for precision cutting.
With a hardness of approximately 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, rhodolite is appropriate for most jewelry applications when set with care. It offers strong brilliance due to its refractive index and absence of cleavage, allowing clean facet junctions and stable wear.
Historically, garnets have symbolized constancy and protection. Rhodolite, with its distinctive violet undertone, has often been associated with steadiness of heart and quiet resilience. The symbolism remains secondary to the stone itself, but the continuity of that association is part of its cultural record.
Each stone in this collection is documented for origin, clarity, cut, and treatment disclosure. Titles reflect mineral identity first. Craftsmanship, including U.S. cutting when applicable, is recorded without altering mineral classification.
Rhodolite occupies a precise space in the garnet spectrum — neither overly dark nor aggressively bright — but balanced. It is a stone defined more by composition and structure than by marketing language.
