*Mali Garnet

Mali garnet is a grossular–andradite garnet mixture first identified in West Africa in the 1990s. The blending of these two garnet species produces a higher refractive index and dispersion than most grossular varieties, often resulting in lively light return in well-cut stones.

Material is primarily sourced from the Republic of Mali, with smaller production reported in Tanzania. Color ranges from yellow and greenish-yellow to warm golden tones depending on iron and calcium content within the crystal structure. Untreated examples represent natural color expression.

Formed deep within the earth under conditions of heat and pressure, Mali garnet carries the dual nature of its chemistry — structure and fire held in balance. Historically, garnets have symbolized vitality, endurance, and grounded strength. In Mali garnet, that symbolism feels fitting: a hybrid stone born of convergence, combining two mineral identities into one unified crystal.
