Scapolite (Wernerite)

Scapolite is a silicate mineral group formed in metamorphic and igneous environments, composed primarily of sodium and calcium aluminosilicates. While scapolite occurs in several colors, transparent gem-quality material suitable for faceting is uncommon due to typical inclusions and limited crystal size.

Notable deposits include Tanzania, Madagascar, Myanmar, and parts of East Africa. Stones may display hues ranging from yellow and violet to soft lavender and colorless varieties. Quality is determined by transparency, saturation, and cutting precision.
